Jak podaje WAM, państwowa agencja prasowa Zjednoczonych Emiratów Arabskich, rząd ZEA sporządził listę organizacji uznanych oficjalnie za terrorystyczne.
Jest to wynik wdrożenia prawa dotyczącego walki z przestępczością o naturze terrorystycznej. Ustawę wprowadził Szejk Chalifa ibn Zajid Al Nahajjan. Listę organizacji terrorystycznych opublikowano w mediach – jak wyjaśnia WAM, ma to na celu „transparentność oraz podniesienie świadomości społecznej na temat tych organizacji”.
Na liście, poza oczywistymi przypadkami, takimi jak Al-Kaida czy Boko Haram, znalazła się między innymi Rada Stosunków Amerykańsko – Islamskich (CAIR, Council on American – Islamic Relations) oraz liczne wiodące organizacje muzułmańskie z krajów Europy Zachodniej – Wielkiej Brytanii, Włoch, Niemiec, Francji, Belgii czy nawet z Finlandii.
